VISUAL-CHESS Set Up Web Cam

This video shows you how to properly set up your webcam for VISUAL-CHESS and position your chessboard correctly. You will learn how to place the camera above the board, choose the correct angle, and ensure the entire playing area is visible. We explain how to select your webcam inside the software and how to adjust the camera’s height so that the board fits within the on-screen guide lines. These guide lines are essential, as they help you align the board precisely for accurate piece detection. The video also demonstrates how to confirm that the board is centered, squared, and fully inside the tracking frame. By following these steps, you will ensure proper alignment and achieve reliable webcam performance with VISUAL-CHESS.

VISUAL-CHESS Set Up Chessboard

This video explains how to complete the chessboard setup in VISUAL-CHESS by marking the eight reference points required for accurate square detection. After correctly positioning your board in the previous step, you will learn how to place each point precisely on the corners and edges indicated on screen. These eight points allow the software to calculate the geometry of the board and automatically identify all 64 squares with high precision. The video guides you through the process slowly, ensuring each point is set in the correct location and confirmed visually. Once all points are placed, VISUAL-CHESS generates the full grid and prepares the tracking system for operation. Completing this step correctly is essential for reliable and accurate move detection.

VISUAL-CHESS Set Up Filters

This section guides you through configuring the light-based filters that allow VISUAL-CHESS to correctly detect each chess piece on the board. You will learn how to adjust the dedicated filter for black pieces, as well as the combined filter used to identify both black and white pieces under different lighting conditions. The process is simple and fully interactive, helping you fine-tune the detection thresholds until every piece is reliably recognized. Completing this step ensures that the system captures all moves accurately and consistently. With the filters properly set, the initial configuration of VISUAL-CHESS is fully complete and your smart chessboard is ready to operate.

VISUAL-CHESS Discover Initial Position

This video explains the optional feature that allows VISUAL-CHESS to automatically detect all 64 pieces placed in their correct starting squares, based on the chosen color orientation for each player. By capturing the full initial setup, the system ensures that every piece is correctly identified before game play begins. This step is especially recommended during your first uses of the software, as it helps verify proper calibration, lighting, and filter settings. Performing an initial position detection provides a reliable baseline for accurate move tracking throughout the entire game. While optional, it greatly enhances consistency and confidence in the system’s performance.

This video introduces the first and simplest way to use VISUAL-CHESS: the Play Test Game mode. Available both in the FREE version and in the FULL commercial version, this feature allows you to choose from 12 different chess openings and play your first five moves directly on your physical board. As you move the pieces, VISUAL-CHESS instantly captures each action and sends it to your computer, giving you a smooth and intuitive experience on your very first interaction with the system. This mode is designed to let you feel the excitement of using a traditional chessboard while enjoying fast, accurate, and effortless digital tracking. It’s the perfect starting point to build confidence before moving on to full game integration.

This video presents the most powerful way to use VISUAL-CHESS: the Two Player mode. Available exclusively for community members who have purchased the FULL version, this feature allows two players to enjoy a complete over-the-board game while every move is instantly captured and recorded by the system. Once the game is finished, you can export it as a PGN file for analysis in any chess software of your choice. Once you select your piece color, VISUAL-CHESS detects every move you make on the board and performs the corresponding move automatically on your computer screen. This innovative concept is the software’s signature advantage, letting you return to the authentic experience of moving real pieces while still enjoying the speed, convenience, and connectivity of online chess. With this mode, you no longer need to stare at a monitor to play—your traditional board becomes the true center of the game, bringing the digital and physical worlds together seamlessly.
